What this tool checks

This DNS lookup tool queries your domain's authoritative DNS servers for all major record types. For email deliverability, the most important records are:

  • MX — which mail servers accept email for the domain
  • SPF (TXT) — which IPs are authorised to send email on behalf of the domain
  • DMARC (TXT) — policy for handling unauthenticated messages (none / quarantine / reject)
  • DKIM (TXT) — public key used to verify email signatures

FAQ

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is a TXT DNS record that lists the IP addresses and mail servers authorised to send email for your domain. Receiving servers check SPF to detect spoofed senders.

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) builds on SPF and DKIM. It tells receiving mail servers what to do with messages that fail authentication — and sends you aggregate reports.

DKIM records are stored under a selector subdomain, e.g. google._domainkey.example.com. Look up the full selector hostname directly if you know it.

Most changes propagate within minutes globally, but TTL values can delay visibility up to 48 hours for some resolvers. Use this tool to verify once propagation is expected.
